Ref 027 – Manufacturer Warranty Claim Made A Little Clearer
Our Aftercare team has written a easy form to explain how warranty claim are processed for New caravans. Take a look here:
PROCEDURE FOR MANUFACTURER WARRANTY CLAIMS
Dealing with a caravan warranty claim can be a very complex process. To claim under
manufacturers warranty your caravan must have a full service history and must have
been serviced by an approved service centre. The services must have been carried out
typically within four weeks either side of the original registration date. (This is from new
purchase and not used purchase). The third annual service must be carried out before
the third birthday of the caravan so you do not have the option of four weeks later.
If you think you need to make a claim under warranty report the problem to your dealer
as soon as you notice it, your dealer will be able to determine if the issue is a warranty
situation or not. Your dealer may need to see the caravan or have pictures of the
problem before a warranty claim can be processed, the manufacturers require this in
most cases.
Your dealer will put a claim into the manufacturer with all the necessary details required,
this is done via e mail or web.
Your dealer then has to wait for a response from manufacturer as to whether the
claim has been accepted or declined, this could take up to two weeks and frequently
manufacturers will ask for more proof or detail of the problem and will sometimes
request that the faulty part is returned to them for testing before a decision can be
made. This is a condition of your warranty which you accept upon purchasing the
vehicle.
Once the manufacturer has accepted a warranty claim the parts will be sent out to us
via the manufacturer’s own delivery service or courier.
If warranty repairs are identified during an annual service the warranty procedure will
be automatically started by the dealer and you will be informed of this. You will be
asked to return your caravan to the service centre once the warranty procedure has
been completed and parts required have been received. Warranty work has to be
carried out at the dealer premises. Due to time delays and space constraints we are
unable to store your vehicle while waiting for parts to arrive.
Please check your manufacturer’s warranty schedule to see what components are
covered and for what length of time.
